Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher was left impressed with Luis Diaz’s performance against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.
The Reds won their first trophy of this season, thanks to a 11-10 penalty shoot-out success over Thomas Tuchel’s men at Wembley.
The game ended goalless after 120 minutes, with four goals ruled out for offside and the forwards suffering an off day in front of goal with a host of big chances missed.
However, Carragher singled out the performance of Diaz, who only arrived from Porto in the January window.
He told Sky Sports: “The interesting point about the Diaz signing is Liverpool only signed him because Tottenham went for him.
“I think he could make a massive difference to Liverpool at this stage of the season not just because of his performances, he was brilliant today but you think what Liverpool’s team would have been if he hadn’t signed.
“Jota wasn’t right, Firmino missed out so you would’ve gone into the game with just Salah and Mane and maybe Minamino and Origi who we know isn’t quite at their level whereas Diaz is at their level.
“This fella could make a huge difference for Liverpool in terms of winning trophies.”
