The Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Ministry involved in sex scandal allegation has been suspended by the Federal Head of Service, Mrs Folashade Yemi-Esan.
The Federal Civil Service Commission, FRSC, also ordered an investigation to unravel the veracity of the sex allegations.
Indeed, a row engulfed Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs over sexual harassment against Ibrahim Lamuwa, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, by an aide of the Foreign Affairs Minister, Mrs
Simisola Ajayi.
Mrs Ajayi, married pregnant aide of the minister, accused the permanent secretary, in a petition to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, who formally requested an investigation by Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.
In a letter sighted dated May 27, 2024, from Tuggar to Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, highlighted the severity of the allegations.
This move followed five months of internal attempts to resolve the issue, which ultimately proved ineffective as Lamuwa allegedly continued his behaviour despite multiple warnings.
However, the Head of Service, Folashade Yemi-Esan, has now directed an investigation into the matter.
She said the permanent secretary would be on suspension pending the outcome of an immediate probe into the allegation against him.
A senior director in the OHCSF in Abuja, indicated that, “The permanent secretary has been suspended pending the outcome of the probe by the committee set up.”
It was learnt that following a petition submitted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, against Lamuwa, the HoS constituted a committee to look into the matter.
