‘I’m impressed’ – Wike’s verdict on FCT road constructions

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has provided assurance that the construction of the FCT Highway 105, connecting the Airport Expressway to Kuje township, will be finalized by the year’s end.

During his inspection of the 11-kilometer road, which entails a six-lane dualization from the Airport Expressway to the Kuje town junction, managed by Arab Contractors, the FCT minister expressed confidence in the project’s progress. He confirmed that the contractor is dedicated to meeting the project deadline and has addressed all potential challenges that could hinder progress.

Wike stated, “The progress of the work is evident. We are also pleased with the quality of work observed. According to the contractor, the project will be completed by the end of the year, which is promising news. It is gratifying to see that we are meeting our set objectives.”

Additionally, the minister inspected a 5-kilometer emergency asphalt carriageway from Tipper Garage Junction to the LEA Secretariat in Kuje Area Council. He expressed contentment with the road project’s quality and reiterated confidence in its completion by the end of 2024.

He remarked, “I am highly satisfied. When we initiated this road project, it was in response to the request from stakeholders in the Kuje Area Council, who nominated this five-kilometer stretch. The contractor wisely began construction from areas with fewer obstacles, ensuring smoother progress as they proceed. They have completed the earthwork for two and a half kilometers and are now commencing drainage. As per their commitment, they aim to finish this road before the year’s end, which is commendable.”
