Stanley Nwabali, the goalkeeper for both the Super Eagles and Chippa United, has expressed his lack of urgency in transferring to a European club.
Nwabali emerged as a notable player during the recently concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles secured the runner-up position. Despite being added to the squad just weeks before the tournament began, he quickly assumed the starting goalkeeper role and showcased his talent by maintaining four consecutive clean sheets. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in the penalty shootout victory against South Africa, making two crucial saves.
Reports suggest that Nwabali’s outstanding performances for the Super Eagles have garnered interest from various European clubs, including Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. However, addressing talks of a potential move to Europe, Nwabali emphasized his comfort in his current situation and expressed a preference for avoiding hasty decisions.
In the meantime, Nwabali may return to action for Chippa United on Saturday as they host Cape Town City. Chippa United currently sits in 13th place in the 16-team South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) with 18 points.
