Ahead of the gubernatorial election in Imo State scheduled for Saturday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) asserts that its candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, remains undeterred and poised for victory. The party acknowledges the existence of a malicious fake video, purportedly created and disseminated by Governor Hope Uzodinma and the All Progressives Congress (APC) against Senator Anyanwu.
In response to this, the PDP calls for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disqualify Governor Uzodinma, condemning what it deems a barbaric and shameful act by the APC candidate. According to Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, it is disheartening that Governor Uzodinma would resort to allegedly sponsoring a fake video to mislead the people of Imo State.
The PDP contends that the fake video is indicative of Governor Uzodinma’s profound apprehension about Senator Anyanwu’s popularity, prompting him to employ last-minute underhanded tactics in a futile attempt to eliminate the PDP candidate. The party reaffirms Senator Anyanwu’s commitment to the gubernatorial race, urging the people of Imo State to disregard the fabricated video as entirely false.
Furthermore, the PDP suggests that if anyone should withdraw from the race, it should be Governor Uzodinma. The party accuses him of demonstrating a lack of readiness to participate in a peaceful, free, fair, and transparent election. In conclusion, the PDP calls on INEC to disqualify the APC and Governor Uzodimma, citing their alleged involvement in producing and circulating the fake video as a violation of electoral laws and cybercrime regulations.
