The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has received the last shipment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu and other top officials of the Commission were at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja to receive the BVAS, according to a statement from Mr Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.
Also at the airport to meet the INEC team were people from the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO), and airport security.
According to the statement, over the last four months, several flights delivered the BVAS to the designated airports for movement to States ahead of the elections.
It also says that the Commission has now received the number of BVAS machines needed for all of the polling places in the country, as well as extra-machines to cover any problems. #
INEC has also opened an online portal for the accreditation of journalists and media organisations that wish to cover this year’s general election.
