Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, attributed the primary cause of insecurity in the southeast to poor governance in Nigeria. Amadi emphasized that this negative trend could be alleviated through effective community action.
In a post on his X handle on Sunday, the former Executive Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) argued that people cannot remain passive and allow the deteriorating situation to persist.
He stated: “Insecurity in the Southeast is largely due to the lack of good governance in Nigeria. However, we can address this issue through strong community initiatives. We must not stand idly by and let the situation worsen. If the government fails, the people should not fail too. ‘Igwe bu ike. Ibu anyi ndanda.’
“We should not give up. We must collaborate to end insecurity in the southeast. Achieving our destiny as the pride of Africa is impossible if we are plagued by insecurity, regardless of the reasons behind it. Restoring security must go hand in hand with good governance.”
