It’s Wickedness, Unfair To Owe Senior Retirees – Adegoke

A lawyer and widows’ rights advocate, Mrs Imah Nsa Adegoke has described as heartless and unfair the attitude of owing retired workers who have worked for the government for 30 or 35 years.

She spoke to journalists in Calabar after meeting with Vice-Chairpersons and Secretaries of the PDP from the 18 Local Government Areas in the state

She said people that have invested their whole time and energy in service to the state need to be appreciated and paid their entitlements.

“We can’t be wicked to old people after taking their taxes at source when they have used up their strength and productive years for the state, you decide to hold their pension and gratuities, it is unfair and unjust, she said.

Adegoke who is a governorship hopeful in the state, frowned at governments which relish in owing their workers, especially retired senior citizens.

She maintained that if she becomes the Governor of Cross River, as a mother, she will pay attention to salaries and gratuities to retired workers.
