Following a raid by a group of bandits in the Kidandan community within the Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, numerous locals have evacuated their ancestral homes. The bandits reportedly engaged in hours of indiscriminate shooting, resulting in the death of some community members and the abduction of several others.
Sources indicate that the bandits escalated their aggression when local farmers failed to meet levies imposed on them earlier. The attack on Kidandan occurred shortly after the recent bombing of locals by a military Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in Tudun Biri village in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to a statement from an informant, the bandits have been consistently targeting Kidandan for the past six days, causing considerable devastation. Residents have been living in constant fear due to these attacks, during which the bandits not only terrorize the community but also engage in theft and abductions.
In response to the ongoing crisis, a significant number of women and children are reported to be leaving Kidandan, with many seeking refuge elsewhere for safety reasons. Despite the gravity of the situation, the Kaduna State Police Command has not issued a statement in response to the incident as of now.
