The Kano State Government has initiated the distribution of free forms to 6,500 secondary school students for their participation in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.
Governor Abba Yusuf emphasized that this initiative aims to provide additional opportunities for the recipients to pursue higher education. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Governor’s Spokesperson, quoted the Governor in a statement on Monday, affirming that this gesture symbolizes the government’s steadfast commitment to investing in the future of the state’s children.
“We believe that education is fundamental to development, and by empowering our students, we are laying the groundwork for a prosperous and sustainable future for our beloved state, Kano,” the Governor expressed.
Governor Yusuf took the opportunity to highlight his government’s achievements in the education sector over the past ten months. These include the reintroduction of foreign scholarships, payment of registration fees for Kano indigenes studying at Bayero University, Kano, and the reopening of 21 Skills Acquisition institutes.
Furthermore, the Governor mentioned a 50% reduction in registration fees at state-owned tertiary institutions, Cash Conditional Transfer to Support Girls’ Child Education, and the settlement of registration fees for exams such as NECO, NABTEB, and NBAIS.
He urged all beneficiaries to seize the opportunity and strive for excellence in their academic pursuits, stating, “the future belongs to those who diligently work to turn dreams into reality.”
Governor Yusuf extended gratitude to JAMB Registrar Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the management and staff of the State Ministry of Education, and other stakeholders for their contributions to the success of the initiative. He emphasized that this endeavor will propel the state towards greater heights in its pursuit of educational advancement.
