In the midst of the increasing insecurity in Abuja, Abdullahi Sabo, a resident of the nation’s capital, has been kidnapped. Sabo and his wife were on their way home when unidentified gunmen intercepted their vehicle at Sabon-Lugbe, Airport Road in Abuja.
The victim was driving an Ash-colored Lexus Jeep with the registration number ABC 769 TP when the unfortunate incident unfolded. Reports indicate that he had left the city center and was en route home when the attackers, riding in an unmarked Golf car, fired shots and punctured the jeep’s tires.
A neighbor of the victim, Daramola Joseph, confirmed Sabo’s abduction during a telephone conversation with a reporter. Joseph explained, “They shot the tires, forcing the vehicle to stop, but before they could get close to the jeep, the man’s wife had escaped. However, they went away with the husband.”
The incident occurred as the man and his wife were returning from the city center, heading towards the access road to Jedo Estate when the gunmen attacked.
SP Adeh Josephine, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command, was contacted for information but had not responded at the time of this report.
This development occurred less than 48 hours after gunmen invaded Army Estate in Kurudu, also in Abuja, and abducted several residents. During townhall meetings in Bwari and Gwagwalada Area Councils, the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, reassured residents of their safety, emphasizing that adequate security measures had been implemented. He also announced the arrest of some bandits and their informants.
