Kogi Guber: SDP Stakeholders deny filing petitions against Ododo at Tribunal

Stakeholders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State have refuted allegations of submitting any petitions contesting the victory of the Governor-elect and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo, in the recent gubernatorial election in the state.

Ayo Momodu, the Chairman of the National Stakeholders Forum of the party, addressed journalists in Abuja on Friday, clarifying that there was no such petition and it is not the party’s practice to challenge elections in court.

The denial comes in response to reports on Wednesday that the SDP’s alleged petition against the governor-elect, filed at the Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, was stolen by armed individuals. The Tribunal’s Secretary, Mr. David Mike, claimed that he was attacked by armed men suspected to be thugs.

Ayo Momodu emphasized that the alleged stolen petition does not exist, highlighting that petitions are not submitted to the Secretaries of Tribunals but to the registry. He reiterated that neither the SDP nor its candidate had filed a petition at the election tribunal.
