Lagos Govt cancels work-from-home policy, workers to resume April 1

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has discontinued the work-from-home policy introduced by his administration.

He has directed all public servants to return to full on-site work starting April 1, 2025.

The policy, implemented in February 2024, allowed civil servants from levels one to 14 to work three days a week. However, in a statement on Tuesday, the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, stated that the initiative was revoked following the adoption of the new minimum wage and other welfare improvements for state employees.

“In light of the implementation of the new minimum wage in the state public service and other significant measures aimed at enhancing the welfare of public servants, the governor has approved the termination of the work-from-home initiative in the Lagos State Public Service,” the statement read.

Agoro urged accounting officers to ensure the directive is widely communicated across the service.
