Military neutralises 43 terrorists, arrests 115

The Defence Headquarters has reported that in the past week, troops have successfully neutralized at least 43 terrorists and apprehended 115 others in various operations. Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed this information in a statement released on Friday in Abuja. Buba emphasized the military’s unwavering commitment to the ongoing campaign against insurgents and its efforts to combat criminal activities nationwide.

He highlighted that the military is actively pursuing terrorists in their concealed locations, conducting targeted offensives aimed at eliminating them. Buba noted that the troops have not only neutralized key leaders of terrorist groups but also significantly degraded the overall fighting capabilities of these groups.

Throughout the week, the military engaged in diverse offensive actions, including ambushes, raids, fighting patrols, and other strategic maneuvers against the terrorists. As a result of these operations, 43 terrorists were neutralized, and 115 were apprehended. The recovered items include 87 assorted weapons and 666 assorted ammunition, encompassing various rifles, pistols, locally fabricated guns, and explosives.

The seized arsenal also comprises 11 AK-47 rifles, one FN rifle, two pump-action guns, eight locally fabricated guns, 11 Dane guns, two locally fabricated pistols, one Makarov pistol, one Beretta pistol, one fabricated SMG, one locally-made mortar with one empty bomb, four IEDs, and various rounds of ammunition.

In addition to the weapons, the troops confiscated 17 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 592 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, four rounds of 7.5mm ammo, one round of 9mm ammo, and 36 live cartridges. Other recovered items include 18 empty cases of 7.62mm special, two bandoliers, 13 magazines, two vehicles, 21 mobile phones, nine motorcycles, 15 bicycles, two tricycles, five Boafeng HH radios, and a sum of N1.6 million, among various other items.
