Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has called for calm among all security agents and residents following a clash between police and military operatives that resulted in the death of a police inspector. The incident occurred when military operatives attacked the Adamawa State Police Command headquarters in Yola early on Wednesday, escalating a confrontation that had started at a checkpoint the previous night.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday afternoon by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Winosikou, Governor Fintiri urged security personnel and the public to maintain composure in the face of the unfortunate incident. He emphasized the importance of accommodation and tolerance among security agents during this period.
Governor Fintiri expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation, stating, “The incident is unacceptable at this time of peacebuilding.” He appealed to all parties involved to exercise restraint, recognizing the potential impact of such conflicts on the hard-earned peace in the state.
Addressing security personnel on special assignments, the governor called for their continued dedication to duty and urged them to conduct themselves with maturity. Fintiri voiced his concern about the potential long-term consequences of the acrimony and emphasized the need for mutual respect and tolerance among security personnel working together in the state.
