Former House of Representatives member Alphonsus Komsol has urged President Bola Tinubu to appoint a new minister from the Plateau Central Senatorial Zone to replace the former Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, in the interest of equity.
In an open letter to the president on Sunday, Komsol emphasized the pressing need for the president to address various issues related to inclusiveness, geopolitics, ethnic balance, and fairness in Plateau State following Lalong’s resignation on Wednesday.
Komsol, who previously served as the Secretary of the Presidential Campaign Council’s Contact and Mobilization Committee in the North-Central Zone, Plateau Coordinator for the Independent Campaign Council for Asiwaju, and Member of the APC’s Election Planning and Strategic Committee, believes that the decision to appoint a new minister from the Plateau Central Senatorial Zone is crucial for the party’s success in Plateau.
His suggestion stems from the observation that Lalong hails from the Plateau South Senatorial Zone, which has produced six ministers since 1999.
