Murder of two Ekiti Monarchs extremely painful – Sultan of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has expressed his dismay regarding the recent killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti. In a statement released by his media team on Friday, the Sultan conveyed his concern, labeling the incident as unfortunate and one that warrants condemnation from all.

The two traditional rulers, namely the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Samuel Olushola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsakin, were fatally shot by suspected bandits as they were returning from a security meeting in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, as reported by DAILY POST.The Sultan described the occurrence as “extremely painful and very unfortunate.” He urged the Inspector General of Police and the leaders of other relevant security agencies to actively pursue the perpetrators and bring them before the legal system for justice.Emphasizing the need for swift action, the Sultan urged law enforcement to intensify their anti-crime efforts against these criminals, regardless of their identity or social standing. He stressed that no one, regardless of their status in society, should be exempt from facing justice. Furthermore, he urged preventive measures to ensure the prevention of such heinous acts in the future.
