The air division of Operation Whirl Punch has successfully eradicated more than 30 terrorists and kidnappers through an airstrike along the Kwiga-Kampanin Doka axis in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. AVM Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, announced this development in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
Gabkwet explained that the airstrike was carried out based on intelligence received regarding the movement of criminals along that particular axis. The intelligence also indicated that the same group was responsible for the recent ambush on troops at Kwanan Mutuwa on January 27, along with various attacks and abductions of innocent civilians in Birnin Gwari.
He further revealed that a thorough examination of the intelligence showed a group of terrorists moving in a convoy of approximately 15 motorcycles, each carrying at least two armed terrorists. Consequently, the terrorists were tracked to a location where they gathered before being engaged and neutralized through a precise airstrike.
Gabkwet concluded by stating that the aftermath of the airstrike confirmed the elimination of several terrorists due to the precision of the strike.
