The 2024 work plan of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) has received approval from the National Council on Privatisation (NCP), chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima. At a press conference following the inaugural meeting of the council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, made the announcement.
Bagudu revealed that the council, under the leadership of Vice President Shettima, has also sanctioned four standing committees comprising representatives from both the public and private sectors.
During the meeting, Bagudu stated, “The council deliberated and approved four standing committees of the council as well as the work plan for 2024 for the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE).” He commended the efforts of the BPE’s management and staff in preparing the necessary documents for the council meeting.
The minister emphasized that the council aims to enhance the efficiency of Nigeria’s public business sector, and this objective will be pursued with renewed determination. Vice President Shettima had recently inaugurated the reconstituted NCP members with a focus on realizing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Shettima urged them to resist outdated practices and contribute to economic growth in alignment with the President’s expectations.
