The Nigerian government has allocated N135.4 billion to states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following the second Independent Assessment of Results achieved under the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) program.
The NG-CARES initiative, which is a $750 million Performance For Results Programme supported by the World Bank, distributed the funds based on the performance outcomes of states and the FCT in their endeavors to support impoverished and vulnerable Nigerians.
Dr. Abdulkarim Obaje, the National Coordinator of the NG-CARES Programme, revealed this information in a statement released on Sunday. The distribution of funds reflects the achievements of states and the FCT in implementing the NG-CARES initiative to assist those in need.
According to Obaje, the top three best-performing states in the Second Round of Assessment are Nasarawa, receiving N13,697,828,496.96, Cross River with N10,944,747,818.84, and Zamfara with N10,231,055,267.82. He acknowledged this as a significant milestone in the efforts of the administration led by President Bola Tinubu to allocate funds towards addressing multidimensional poverty in the country.
