NHRC task stakeholders to audit human rights situation

The National Human Rights Commission NHRC has charged stakeholders to audit human rights situation in Nigeria in the last four years as well as assess country’s implementation on recommendations of human rights issues in the country.

The Executive Secretary of National Human Rights Commission Chief Tony Ojukwu stated this in Abuja at a two day Consultative workshop on assessment of the implementation of United Nations Universal Periodic Review UPR, Circle.

Chief Ojukwu explained that the review workshop would help in addressing gaps associated with human rights situation in Nigeria.

The Chief Judge of FCT, Justice Hussaini Baba-Yusuf represented by Justice Chizoba Orji emphasized that the Judiciary would continue to support National Human Rights Commission to achieve its mandates.

Other speakers at the event in their separate good will messages emphasized that the good image of Nigeria on human rights issues to outside world was critical to the Socio-economic development of the country.
