The Ministry of Defence is actively exploring potential partnerships with the U.S. military company NEANY to establish advanced weapon production lines at the Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON). Dr. Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, embarked on a two-day visit to NEANY to assess areas of collaboration, as disclosed in a statement by Mr. Henshaw Ogubike, the Director of Press and Public Relations for the ministry.
The primary focus of this collaboration is the establishment of assembly lines for the production of sophisticated military equipment, aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s capacity to combat insecurity. The initiative also aims to incorporate innovative technologies that can improve the efficiency of the Nigerian military in addressing contemporary security challenges.
NEANY, a prominent U.S. military equipment manufacturing company, is partnering with DICON, a Nigerian government firm specializing in the production of military equipment and hardware.
During the visit, Minister Matawalle emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of its armed forces in response to emerging security threats. He noted that the comprehensive tour of NEANY’s facilities provided valuable insights into cutting-edge military and intelligence hardware capabilities, marking a crucial step in fostering collaboration and integrating advanced military technologies to strengthen Nigeria’s defence capabilities. The minister highlighted the government’s dedication to President Bola Tinubu’s vision of modernizing the armed forces to effectively address evolving security challenges.
