Nigerian artistes charging in dollars to perform in Nigeria – OAP Do2dtun laments

Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, widely known as Do2dtun, a popular media personality, video jockey, and actor, has expressed concern about the emerging practice among Nigerian artists and event organizers who are now demanding payment in foreign currency for performances in Nigeria.

He highlighted that even though these artists and their music genre originated in Nigeria, they have started quoting their booking fees in United States Dollars, even for events held within Nigeria.

On his social media platform, Do2dtun shared his thoughts, stating, “The Afrobeat genre that we all collectively nurtured is being jeopardized by your actions. Charging your fellow countrymen in dollars is undermining the unity that the genre fosters within your community. This shift is rather peculiar and bewildering.”
