The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), on behalf of the federal government, has declared the distribution of additional computer systems to facilitate the enrollment of National Identification Numbers (NIN). According to Kayode Adegoke, the Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, the decision to distribute more enrolment systems to all states is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at addressing challenges related to NIN enrollment and enhancing operational capacity.
Adegoke emphasized that the provision of extra enrolment devices reflects the commitment of the NIMC Director-General and CEO, Abisoye Odusote-Coker, to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency. These systems have been installed and are currently in use across all states, resulting in reduced waiting times for applicants and an increase in the number of individuals attended to daily.
Odusote-Coker stressed her administration’s strict stance against the extortion of applicants and highlighted that any staff found engaging in such practices will be dealt with in accordance with the constitution and existing Public Service Rules. Furthermore, the Director-General has dispatched monitoring and evaluation teams to various centers nationwide to ensure the smooth conduct of enrollment and modification exercises while maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against extortion and unethical practices, as outlined in the statement.
