Former Senator Shehu Sani from Kaduna Central stated on Thursday that the ongoing price dispute between Dangote Refinery and the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) is merely a “skit.”
His comments came after the Federal Government announced it would not intervene in the price conflict between the two entities. On Wednesday, the government confirmed it would allow NNPCL and Dangote Refinery to set their own petrol prices without interference.
Bayo Onanuga, spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, explained that the deregulation of the petroleum sector permits all stakeholders to determine their prices based on market forces.
In response, Sani shared on X, “The FG’s decision not to intervene in the price war between Dangote and NNPCL indicates that ‘the war’ is just a skit.”
