The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in Ogun State has lifted their indefinite strike, which commenced on April 8, according to an announcement made on Monday in Abeokuta by the union’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Adewale Adenekan.
Earlier in the month, the union had initiated the strike due to the state government’s failure to pay the 40 per cent peculiar allowance.
A meeting held on Monday between the union’s National Officers, the Ogun JUSUN Executive Committee members, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), and the state chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Joint Negotiation Council (JNC) resolved the issue.
Following the meeting, the union confirmed the legitimacy of their demand. However, the main issue now revolves around the timing of implementing the demand, considering the upcoming announcement by the Federal Government regarding the new minimum wage on May 1. The implementation of this new wage is anticipated to take place between May and June 2024 for both federal and state workers.
