Ondo election: Gov Aiyedatiwa speaks on drawing N1.2 billion as security vote

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has dismissed the allegation that he receives N1.2 billion in security votes as “lies from the pit of hell.”

He expressed this during the Ondo State governorship election debate in Akure, organized by Channels Television and its partners. The debate was an opportunity for candidates to share their plans for the state’s development.

Both candidates, who previously served as deputy governors to the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, are representing the two major political parties: the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Aiyedatiwa, who is running for election on November 16, accused the PDP’s Agboola Ajayi of misleading the public regarding the security funds.

“You can’t just come out and declare that someone is receiving N1.2 billion as security votes; that’s an outright lie,” he stated, refraining from revealing the specific amount he receives.

He elaborated that all government spending is backed by a budget and maintained that his administration will operate within that financial framework.

Aiyedatiwa advised the PDP candidate to fact-check his statements before sharing potentially misleading claims with the public.
