Oyo Assembly has received 44 constitution amendment bills – Speaker

The Oyo State House of Assembly says it has received no fewer than 44 constitution amendment bills.

The Assembly noted that the bills were transmitted to it by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr Amos Ojo.

Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin made this announcement on Tuesday.

Ogundoyin, who spoke during Tuesday plenary, said that the 44 constitution amendment bills were forwarded to State Houses of Assembly through their Clerks on the 29th March, 2022.

He explained that the message from the National Assembly was thereafter read by the Clerk of the State Assembly, Mrs Yetunde Awe.

Ogundoyin said the proposed amendments were important to the nation and its citizens.

He called on his colleagues to get prepared for the task.

Ogundoyin added that the Assembly will organize seminars for its members on the proposed 44 constitution amendment bills.

He said that this will enable the lawmakers to have comprehensive insight into the national assignment.

Ogundoyin said, “We have the 44 Constitution Amendment bills as read by the Clerk, Mrs Yetunde Awe. This is in continuation of efforts to amend some questionable and grey areas in the 1999 Constitution. Oyo Assembly will work diligently on the bills as required.

“It is an important national assignment and we are treating it as such”.
