PDP announces new date for NEC meeting amid internal crisis

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, moving it from October 24 to November 28. This was announced by Bala Mohammed, the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, who shared the update in a communique following an expanded meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to Mohammed, the decision was made during discussions among various party bodies to ensure the PDP is unified and strong as it approaches the Ondo gubernatorial elections on November 16, aiming to unseat the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.

He highlighted the necessity for party unity in light of attempts by adversaries to sow discord, calling on all members to refrain from divisive comments that could hinder the party’s efforts to solidify its role as the leading opposition in anticipation of the 2027 elections.

Participants in the meeting included members of the PDP Governors’ Forum, the Board of Trustees, the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Assembly leadership of the PDP Caucus, and the Forum of Former Governors.
