President Bola Tinubu has stated that while he may face criticism, he is confident in his ability to govern and develop the country.
The president made this assertion on Saturday during a meeting with stakeholders from the South-East geopolitical zone in Enugu.
DAILY POST reports that Tinubu visited Enugu to inaugurate several projects initiated by the state governor, Peter Mbah.
The commissioned projects include 30 smart green schools, 60 completed type-2 primary health centers, and the 19-kilometer Airport-New Haven–Bisalla and Okpara Square roads.
Addressing the stakeholders, Tinubu emphasized that the removal of the petrol subsidy was a necessary step to secure the nation’s future and protect upcoming generations.
“I was fully aware of the challenges of governance before I contested in the 2023 elections,” Tinubu said.
“You are all part of one big, united family called Nigeria, though living in different rooms of the same house.
“This house must be built to meet not just today’s needs but also those of tomorrow. That is why removing the fuel subsidy was essential.
“You cannot mortgage the future of generations yet to be born. We must avoid bankrupting the nation before their time.
“I know people will resist, complain, and even insult me, but I sought this job knowing what it entails. I trust my abilities and believe I can assemble a competent team to build this nation.
“It’s our country, and we must work tirelessly to create a nation we can take pride in. Let’s change the negative narrative about Nigeria.
“I won’t accept pessimism. I am deeply proud of Nigeria, and you all should be too,” he added.
