Plateau Gov, Mutfwang presents N295.4 billion appropriation bill to state assembly

On Tuesday, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State presented the 2024 budget, totaling over 295 billion naira, to the State House of Assembly. He explained that 53.33 percent of the budget is allocated to recurrent expenditure, while 46.66 percent is designated for capital expenditure.

Governor Mutfwang, while introducing the budget titled “The Budget of New Beginnings,” stated, “This budget has a total of 295,434,568,464 naira only (N295,434,568,464.00). This amount comprises a recurrent component of 157,563,316,462 naira, representing 53.33% of the total budget size, and a capital estimate of 137,871,251,992 naira, representing 46.66% of the total budget estimate.”

He also highlighted that the total budget size reflected an increase of 145,483,233,873 naira over the 2023 approved budget.

The primary goal of this budget, as explained by the Governor, is to establish a strong foundation for peace and prosperity in Plateau State. The administration’s vision and mission center on addressing key areas such as security, agriculture, human capital development, public health, industrialization, and aggressive revenue generation.

Governor Mutfwang expressed his hope that the budget would receive prompt attention and urged the Speaker and Honorable Members to review and deliberate on it. He emphasized the importance of their understanding and cooperation for the timely passage of the budget, enabling its implementation to commence.

In response, the Speaker of the House, Moses Sule, assured that the House would diligently perform its duties and ensure the budget is passed in a timely manner.
