Port Harcourt, Warri refineries to be fully operational in 2024 – Ifeanyi Ubah

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), Ifeanyi Ubah, has announced plans for the full operationalization of two refineries, Port Harcourt and Warri, by the close of 2024. He emphasized that measures have been implemented to achieve this objective, with the Kaduna Refinery also slated for operation before the end of the following year.

Ubah highlighted that the completion of these refineries, coupled with the contribution from the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery, will bolster the nation’s capacity to meet its domestic fuel requirements.

Additionally, the senator urged the federal government and other stakeholders to collaborate on establishing modular refineries to further enhance the country’s crude oil refining capabilities.

Ubah reiterated his commitment to ensuring the functionality of Nigeria’s refineries, stating his active involvement in the process. He expressed confidence that two refineries would be operational by the year’s end and assured that the Kaduna refinery would follow suit by the subsequent year.

Furthermore, Ubah emphasized ongoing efforts, including regular technical inspections, aimed at meeting the specified timeline for refinery operations.
