Despite the controversy surrounding their invitation, the renowned Fuji musician, Alabi Pasuma, and the controversial street-hop artist, Portable, went ahead to perform at a celestial church in Lagos. The church had faced criticism after unveiling the duo as guest artists for its praise night, with some opposing voices, including Celestial Church leader Olatosho Oshoffa, expressing disapproval of their participation.
In response to the backlash, the presiding pastor of the church, Aderemi Dabiri, justified the decision by stating that he invited the secular musicians with the intention of winning souls for Christ.
Despite the criticism, a video surfaced on the internet showing Pasuma and Portable performing at the praise night on Friday. Pasuma was dressed in casual shirt and trousers, while Portable adhered to the church’s dress code by wearing a white garment. The video depicted them passionately performing Pasuma’s popular track, “Zazuu,” with congregants enthusiastically joining in, creating an atmosphere of excitement and shared celebration within the church.
