Ramadan: Etsu Nupe Urges Muslims To Intensify Prayers Against Insecurity

Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger Council of Traditional Rulers, has called on Muslims to strengthen their prayers during the holy month of Ramadan for the restoration of lasting peace in Nigeria.

According to him, prayer remains the most powerful tool for overcoming challenges.

In a statement released on Saturday by the Palace Secretary, Malan Abdulmalik Usman, Rani Nupe, the Etsu Nupe emphasized that persistent security issues such as insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping could be tackled through sincere and continuous prayers during Ramadan.

He noted that prayers have the potential to invoke divine intervention in addressing the country’s security, socio-economic, and other pressing concerns. He further described Ramadan as a significant period for seeking divine guidance and sustainable solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.

The royal father encouraged Muslims in his domain and across the nation to use the sacred month to pray for peace, stability, and progress in the Bida Emirate, Niger State, and the country as a whole.

“Prayers offered during this holy month will support our leaders and security forces in overcoming the evil acts disrupting our nation,” he said.

He also cautioned Islamic preachers against making inciting statements that could lead to public unrest.

“Religious teachings during this period should focus on fostering harmony among the people and should not be used to create division,” he stated.

The Etsu Nupe underscored the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence in promoting the progress of every community. He urged clerics to lead by example in both their words and actions.

Additionally, he appealed to affluent individuals to support the less privileged by providing food and financial assistance to alleviate their difficulties during Ramadan.

“Those blessed with wealth should use it to support the poor and widows.

“This act of kindness will greatly ease their struggles during this holy month,” he concluded.
