The Osun State Chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has advised Governor Ademola Adeleke to reinstate Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo to her position as the state’s Chief Judge. This recommendation comes in response to the National Judicial Council’s (NJC) directive to the Osun State Government to maintain the status quo.
Wale Adebayo, the party’s chairman in the state, conveyed this message in a statement to the press on Friday in Osogbo. He highlighted that the NJC, as the constitutionally authorized body to investigate judiciary officers and take appropriate actions, has recognized Justice Ojo, disregarding the resolution of the State Assembly. Adebayo also noted that the council has urged the Osun State Government to revert to the status quo.
Emphasizing the adherence to due process, Adebayo stated that the Chief Judge cannot be removed from office or suspended without following the established procedures. It was previously reported that the NJC rejected the governor’s request to appoint Justice David Olayinka Afolabi as the acting Chief Judge and also dismissed the resolution of the Osun State Assembly.
