The Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service (ZSIRS) management has prohibited any form of negotiation between the board’s staff and taxpayers, particularly concerning cash payments. Hajiya Rakkiya Ahmed Dodo, the Executive Chairperson of the board, made this announcement during the weekly phone-in program titled “da Ruwan ciki akan ja na rijiya” on Zamfara Radio Hausa.
Emphasizing her commitment to revitalizing the revenue accumulation process for the State Government, the Executive Chairperson highlighted the impossibility of executing various developmental projects that directly benefit the people without the full cooperation of taxpayers. She underscored the crucial role of tax payments in complementing the implementation of government policies and programs.
Expressing concern about the lack of awareness among taxpayers across the state, she pledged that her leadership would continue to explore additional ways to educate taxpayers through collaboration with relevant stakeholders. These stakeholders include Ministries, Departments, Boards, Agencies, and the Private Sector, all of which are essential for achieving the desired goals.
To prevent fraudulent activities, the Executive Chairperson specified that the approved channels for tax payments would be through branches of commercial banks in the state.
