Rivers crisis: Join hands with me, allow peace prevail – Fubara begs

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has called on all conflicting factions within the state to collaborate with him and actively support the establishment of peace. Fubara emphasized that the absence of peace could lead to the fragmentation of the state, highlighting the critical need for unity.

This plea is particularly relevant amid the ongoing discord between him and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Addressing the audience at the Ogoni Day celebration in Bori Town, Khana Council, Fubara, represented by his deputy, Ngozi Odu, appealed to everyone to come together and work towards maintaining peace throughout the state. He stressed the importance of avoiding unnecessary divisions, stating that it is not conducive for the current situation.

Governor Fubara underscored the significance of all councils in the senatorial district, with Ogoni playing a major role. He declared that the administration’s top priority is to foster development in this region. Specifically, he highlighted key focus areas such as addressing electricity and security issues in Ogoni land, reiterating that these are high-priority concerns for the government.
