Rivers Crisis: Wike’s ally, Chidi Amadi resigns as Fubara’s Chief of Staff

Chidi Amadi, who served as the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has submitted his resignation. The Commissioner for Information and Communications in the state, Joseph Johnson, confirmed this development to the press on Wednesday. Johnson mentioned that the governor would announce a replacement for the position in due course.

He stated, “Hon Chidi Amadi, the former Chief of Staff, has resigned. The governor will appoint a new Chief of Staff at the appropriate time. The governor has the discretion to make the appointment when he deems fit. Once the decision is made, we will make the announcement, and the corresponding release will be provided.”

Before assuming the role of Chief of Staff, Amadi, who hails from the same Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state as Governor Wike, previously served as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the LGA and was a known ally of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister.

Amadi’s resignation marks the tenth departure from the Fubara cabinet as a consequence of the strained relationship between the governor and his former political mentor, Wike.
