The Biafra Republic Government in-Exile, led by Simon Ekpa, has voiced its outrage over the killing of popular Ogene musician Igbo Jah by a police officer from the Anti-Cult Unit of the Enugu State Police Command.
Reports indicate that Igbo Jah was shot by an operative of this unit on Friday.
Atlantic Reporters notes that the incident has sparked widespread anger among youths in Enugu State, resulting in protests.
In response to Igbo Jah’s murder, Ekpa announced that Enugu State would be under lockdown on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, to seek out the musician’s killers.
He emphasized the need to put an end to the ongoing violence against the Igbo people in the state, stating, “Enugu State will be locked down on Tuesday, 29.10.2024. This day will be dedicated to identifying the killers of this innocent man. Enough is enough.”
its reported that both residents of Enugu and figures like Governor Peter Mbah have condemned the musician’s murder.
The police confirmed that the officer responsible for the shooting has been identified and taken into custody.
