SON approves 168 new product standards specifications

The Governing Council of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has approved 168 new Standards for publication and dissemination to various sectors of the nation’s economy to enhance the ongoing economic diversification policy.

The Director-General of SON, Farouk Salim disclosed this during a press briefing ahead of the organisation’s 50th anniversary taking place on November 28.

According to Mr Salim, SON is presently structured to lead every process that surrounds the preparation of standards relating to products, measurements, materials, and processes among others, and their promotion at the national, regional, and international levels.

He described the celebration as a “moment of stock-taking and introspection”, saying the aim was to chart the course “of giant strides” into the future.
