Tinubu charges security chiefs to end insecurity

President Bola Tinubu has urged the nation’s security chiefs to ensure a definitive triumph over the various security challenges confronting the country. This directive was revealed by Ajuri Ngelale, a presidential spokesperson, in a statement released on Friday.

During a Presidential Security Briefing at the State House in Abuja, President Tinubu addressed security chiefs and heads of intelligence agencies, acknowledging progress in eliminating certain security threats across different fronts. However, he stressed that true success would be marked by a resolution to the multifaceted menace.

President Tinubu emphasized the need to make strategic investments in both soft and physical infrastructure, social security, MSME empowerment, and other growth facilitators. He expressed the importance of concluding the ongoing efforts against enemies of progress for the nation to achieve its goal of a $1 trillion economy in the coming years.

While commending the recent improvements in coordination among security agencies, the President pointed out that avoidable errors, such as those witnessed in Kaduna, are unacceptable and should not be repeated. He urged the armed forces to focus on their objective of ensuring the country achieves a sustainable production of two million barrels of crude oil per day by the first quarter of 2024.

President Tinubu issued a stern warning that all malign actors, both internal and external, working against the national agenda will face justice. He emphasized the imperative of sustaining momentum and declared that failure is not an option under his leadership.

Additionally, the President lauded the dedication and commitment of specific officers, including the Commander of the Presidential Air Fleet, the Commander of the Brigade of Guards, and his Chief Personal Security Officer. As a token of recognition, these officers were promoted: Air Commodore Olayinka Olusola Oyesola to Air Vice Marshal, Adebisi Olusegun Onasanya to Brigadier-General, and Usman Musa Shugaba to Deputy Commissioner of Police.

President Tinubu expressed his admiration for the officers’ loyalty and dedication to duty, emphasizing that their promotions reflect their service to the country. The event was attended by top military officials, intelligence heads, and presidential aides, and the newly promoted officers were decorated in the presence of their spouses.
