President Bola Tinubu has urged for increased collaboration with France to address the ongoing threat of terrorism in the country. Tinubu made this appeal during a farewell meeting with the departing French Ambassador to Nigeria, Emmanuelle Blatmann, in Abuja on Friday.
The President commended Blatman for her commitment to enhancing the relationship between France and Nigeria. He encouraged her, in her new role as Director for Africa, to advocate for the necessity of “enhanced technical cooperation” between Nigeria and France in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
Expressing gratitude for Blatman’s outstanding efforts in promoting bilateral relations in various areas such as the economy, trade, education, arts, and culture, President Tinubu acknowledged her appointment as Africa Director by President Macron as a recognition of her exemplary performance in Nigeria.
He concluded by extending a warm welcome to Blatman in Nigeria whenever she visits, and in terms of regional security, he urged her to consistently remind Paris of the imperative to strengthen technical cooperation in joint efforts to combat terrorism and counter violent extremism in the region.
