Troops neutralise 3 bandits in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army has reported that soldiers from 1 Division successfully eliminated three bandits and seized weapons in Kaduna. Lt-Col Musa Yahaya, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 1 Division, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Kaduna.

According to Yahaya, the operation took place on November 12, following credible intelligence. Troops from the I Division Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch conducted a clearance operation in the Maro – Chibiya forest area of Kajuru Local Government Area in Kaduna State. During the operation, the troops confronted the armed bandits with superior firepower, resulting in the neutralization of one bandit. The remaining assailants fled with gunshot wounds into the surrounding forest.

The army disclosed that as a result of the operation, they captured an AK-47 rifle, a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, four 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and one mobile phone.

Additionally, on November 10, troops from 1 Division and Operation Whirl Punch engaged bandits during a clearance operation in Kawara and Filin Jalo villages in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. In the ensuing firefight, one bandit was neutralized, and the troops recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, a motorcycle, and a Techno phone. Other bandits managed to escape with gunshot wounds, according to Yahaya.
