The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF has called for the rescue of 21 children abducted by bandits in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
In a statement, UNICEF Representative in Nigeria, Ms Cristian Munduate says the 21 children were abducted at a farm in Mairuwa community, in Katsina.
The statement describes the abduction of the children as reprehensible, saying no matter where the abduction took place children should never be seen as targets of violence by those who should be protecting them.
UNICEF appeals to all security agencies to take proactive and urgent measures to rescue the children and reunite them with their families unhurt.
It also urges security agencies to also rescue other abducted persons reported to have been kidnapped on the farm the same time as the children.
According to the statement, the 21 children include 17 girls and 4 boys who are between the ages of 15 and 18.
