Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, expressed disappointment as he had to postpone his rally due to severe rainfall. Addressing a crowd of thousands gathered at Wilmington airport, he announced that the event would not proceed as planned but assured them that it would be rescheduled on a larger scale. Just before making the decision to cancel the rally, initially slated for Willington, North Carolina, Trump called for debates with President Joe Biden.
The rally had to be called off due to an approaching rainstorm at the airport where it was set to take place on Saturday. Trump, while en route to the international airport, personally informed the attendees that the event would be rescheduled “bigger and better.”
This rally would have marked the first public address by the Republican Presidential candidate after a week of relative silence, spent in a New York courtroom. Despite his disappointment, Trump emphasized the importance of safety for everyone involved, stating, “I’m devastated that this could happen but we want to keep everybody safe.”
He expressed his regret over the cancellation, saying, “I think we’re gonna have to just do a rain check. I’m so sad.”
In addition to addressing the rally postponement, Trump also took to social media to call for debates with President Biden, stating, “I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME ANYWHERE ANYPLACE.” He suggested that these debates could be organized by either the Democratic National Committee (DNC) or their affiliate, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD).
