The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the introduction of resit examinations for candidates.
This new initiative enables students to retake their West African Senior Secondary Examinations (WASSCE) papers as early as January and February 2025. This marks a significant change from previous years, where candidates had to wait for the next private exam cycle.
Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show in Ghana, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, confirmed the development.
“Students who check their results and find they need to retake one or two papers have until 8th January to register online via our website or at WAEC-accredited internet cafés,” Kapi explained.
The resit exams are scheduled to run from 24th January to 15th February 2025.
Kapi also noted that students whose results were canceled are eligible to participate in the WASSCE PC1 exams, provided they have not been banned for malpractice.
