Troops from 1 Brigade and Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), operating under Operation Sahel Sanity II, have eliminated two extremists in Zamfara State.
In a statement released on Saturday, Lt. Suleiman Omale of OPHD reported that on August 16, 2024, the troops engaged the bandits in a severe clash in the Unguwar Sarkin Musulmi area of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.
He added that, acting on reliable intelligence, the brave soldiers responded quickly to reports of extremist activities in the region. Upon arrival, they were involved in a heavy gunfight, successfully neutralizing two extremists.
Lt. Omale also noted that other bandits were driven away in confusion during the confrontation.
Following the encounter, the troops conducted a search operation and recovered an operational motorcycle used by the extremists.
He emphasized that the area has been secured, with Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) Operation Hadarin Daji maintaining a strong presence and carrying out patrols to build confidence and ensure the safety of the local community.
