Ekiti Gov, Oyebanji congratulates Okpebholo, Edo governor-elect

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his victory in the recent Edo State governorship election.

Okpebholo received 291,667 votes, defeating his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 247,274 votes, according to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday evening.

In a statement from his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji praised the people of Edo State for their support of the APC and its Renewed Hope agenda, leading to Okpebholo’s success.

He noted that the election outcome reflects the voice of the Edo people and congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for enhancing democracy in Nigeria, calling the result a vote of confidence in his administration.

Oyebanji also commended INEC for ensuring that the votes of the citizens were counted, emphasizing that democracy is strengthening in Nigeria as voters hold parties and candidates accountable.

He urged Okpebholo and his Deputy, Dennis Idahosa, to show magnanimity in victory by reaching out to their opponents and encouraged the Governor-elect to view his election as a mandate to serve, implementing policies that promote the welfare of the people.

“The Edo people have spoken clearly and loudly. Congratulations to my brother, Governor-elect Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa.

“This victory is a testament to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and a win for the APC and democracy itself.

“It marks a new era for Edo State, and I commend the people for returning to the progressive fold,” the Governor concluded.
