Insecurity: Don’t instill fear in Nigerians – Defence Minister, Badaru warns mischief-makers

Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru has issued a firm warning to those trying to create fear among Nigerians, asserting that the armed forces will not stand for such actions.

Badaru delivered this message while speaking at the Third National Conference of the Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria (FFDGN) in Abuja on Tuesday. The conference’s theme this year is “Strategic Solutions for Good Governance, Food Security, and Sustainable Growth in Nigeria.”

Represented by his Special Adviser, Technical, Ahmed Jibrin, Badaru stated that the armed forces are committed to ensuring that all enemies of Nigeria face justice. He assured Nigerians of the military’s dedication to maintaining security, which is essential for food security in the country.

“The Nigerian government understands that food security is a core human right. A country cannot prosper if its people are hungry or unsafe. Although Nigeria has abundant agricultural resources, we still encounter difficulties in feeding our citizens.”

He expressed confidence in achieving food security based on the dedication he witnessed during his national tour. The minister also highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare and safety of the Nigerian populace.

Badaru remarked that Tinubu has shown this commitment through various initiatives aimed at providing relief during economic difficulties in sectors such as agriculture, trade, education, health, transportation, and security.

He urged citizens to support security agencies to enhance their effectiveness and called on leaders to engage in dialogue to develop practical solutions that promote peace, stability, and economic advancement. He stressed the necessity for inclusive decision-making that reflects the citizens’ will and emphasized that effectively tackling food insecurity requires a concentrated effort.
