US: Kamala Harris vows to legalise marijuana if elected president

Kamala Harris, the U.S. Vice President and Democratic Party nominee, has pledged to legalize recreational marijuana if she wins the presidency.

She also aims to provide opportunities for Americans in the marijuana sector.

Harris shared her commitment in a statement on her X handle, stating, “I will legalize recreational marijuana, eliminate unjust legal barriers, and create opportunities for all Americans to thrive in this new industry.”

Harris will compete against former President Donald Trump from the Republican Party in the upcoming election.

She became the Democratic candidate after President Joe Biden chose to step down in July and endorsed her.

A variety of American celebrities, such as Beyoncé, Cardi B, Olivia Rodrigo, and Ariana Grande, have rallied behind Kamala Harris for president.
